Apparently the mystical witches are trapped in stone in the Rock Close gardens and only come to life after dark. Former guests have apparently even produced photos of the ghosts they’ve seen there!

For a more elegant castle you can’t beat Bantry House with its collection of art treasures and French Armada Exhibition. Ask at Jury’s Inn Cork for dates when the Cork Chamber orchestra will be playing in the library there, a performance you’ll remember for a long time.

If you have time, The Beara Penninsula is a beautiful place to visit with its striking mountains and lakes. You can arrange to hire bikes at reception at the Jury’s Inn Cork and cycle on the Beara Penninsula which has a scenic cycling route.
